PRESSURE REGULATOR

PRESSURE GAUGE AND REGULATORS
PRESSURE REGULATOR
A pressure regulator is a valve that automatically cuts of the flow of a liquid or gas at a certain pressure. Regulators are use to allow high-pressure fluid supply lines or tanks to be reduced to safe and/or usable pressure for various applications. Pressure regulators are used to regulate gas pressure and are not used for measuring flow rates.
Pressure regulators  primary function is to match the flow of gas to the regulator to the demand for gas placed upon the system. If the load flow decreases , then the regulator flow must decrease also. If the load flow increases , then the regulator flow must increase in order to keep in control pressure from decreasing due to shortage of gas in the cylinder
  • A pressure regulator includes a restricting element, a loading element, and a measuring element.

  • The restricting element is a valve that can provide a variable restriction to the flow, such as global valve , butterfly valve ,poppet valve etc.

  • The loading element is a part that can apply the needed force to the restricting element. This loading can be provided by a weight, spring, a piton activater, or the diaphragm activater in combination with a spring.

  • The measuring element function to determine the inlet flow is equal to the outlet flow. The diaphragm itself is often used as measuring element; it can serve as a combined element
